I've submitted my ad and contacted sitters but have no success finding one.

While our system automatically notifies sitters who match your location and dates, sometimes a "perfect on paper" match needs a little extra nudge. If you aren't receiving the applications you expected, it usually comes down to how the "story" of your home is being told.

Here is how to boost your ad’s appeal and get back to the top of the list:

1. Sell the Experience

Sitters often choose a position based on the lifestyle it offers. If your ad focuses heavily on tasks, it might feel like work rather than a "working holiday."

  • Highlight Local Gems: Research "things to do" in your town and surrounding areas. Mention local markets, hidden walking trails, golf courses, or the best local cafe.

  • Seasonality: If it’s winter, mention the cozy fireplace. If it’s summer, highlight the air conditioning or the nearby swimming hole.

2. Check Your "Ask"

Take a look at your requirements through a sitter’s eyes.

  • Are there a high number of chores for a short stay?

  • Is the description clear about pet personalities?

  • Pro Tip: Transparency builds trust. Being honest but enthusiastic about your home's needs usually attracts the most reliable sitters.

3. Refresh and "Bump" Your Ad

If your ad has been live for a while, it may have slipped down the search results. To get back in front of sitters (including new members who have joined recently):

  1. Revamp: Update your description with the local attractions mentioned above.

  2. Unpublish & Recreate: Unpublish your current ad, then select the option to "Create a new ad from the old one."

  3.  Submit: This keeps your information intact but treats it as a brand-new listing. This triggers a fresh round of notifications to all relevant sitters and puts you back at the top of the home owners listings.

Pro-Tip: Photos are worth a thousand words

If your description is great but you only have one photo (or none), sitters may hesitate. Ensure you have clear shots of the pet, the main living area, and the guest bedroom!
