ID check failure - common causes

ID check failure - common causes

  1. Expired licence or passport. Passport must have at least one month left before expiry.
  2. If the face image in the ID document is not wearing glasses, the selfie must be taken without glasses.
  3. Don't look down at your phone when taking the selfie. Take the selfie with the phone held up in front of you while looking straight ahead.
  4. The selfie photo should be of just of your face, the same as in your ID document. No upper torso or clothing with a high collar.
  5. Don't smile when taking the selfie.
  6. Don't photograph your ID document with the camera sideways or upside down.
  7. Don't hold the driver’s licence or passport in your hand when taking the photo of it – your fingers will cover parts of it . Lay it flat on a white or light background and make sure the entire passport is in the photo.
  8. Make sure you remember to flip the driver’s licence over to take the photo of the back.
  9. Make sure the first photo taken of your driver's licence is of the front with your face image and the second is of the back - not the other way round.
  10. If a photo comes out blurry or you are not happy with it, click the ‘back’ button and redo it.
