ID check failure - common causes
- Expired licence or passport. Passport must have at least one month left before expiry.
- If the face image in the ID document is not wearing glasses, the selfie must be taken without glasses.
- Don't look down at your phone when taking the selfie. Take the selfie with the phone held up in front of you while looking straight ahead.
- The selfie photo should be of just of your face, the same as in your ID document. No upper torso or clothing with a high collar.
- Don't smile when taking the selfie.
- Don't photograph your ID document with the camera sideways or upside down.
- Don't hold the driver’s licence or passport in your hand when taking the photo of it – your fingers will cover parts of it . Lay it flat on a white or light background and make sure the entire passport is in the photo.
- Make sure you remember to flip the driver’s licence over to take the photo of the back.
- Make sure the first photo taken of your driver's licence is of the front with your face image and the second is of the back - not the other way round.
- If a photo comes out blurry or you are not happy with it, click the ‘back’ button and redo it.
